Some homeowners think that the colder months of the year are the worst months to list your home. I get it, there’s snow, there’s ice, no one wants to be outside, let alone move from one place to another. And then there’s that beautiful yard that you work so hard on in the spring and summer, dead and frozen in the winter.

So, while there are LOTS of advantages to selling your home in the spring and summer, and there is lots of talk around the spring months being the best time for homeowners to list and sell their homes quickly:

I have to ask the million dollar question: should you wait to sell your home???

Short answer: no.

Long answer: Definitely no!

Of course, there are advantages to selling your home in the spring. But there are advantages to listing a home in any season, so don’t sell those winter months short!

If you’re interested in selling your home, there’s no reason to wait for sunnier skies and warmer weather.

Less competition

Lots of homeowners wait to sell in the spring, so to keep your listing competitive, list now while the market isn’t as crazy. You might think you want to sell during months with more buzz, but in the winter you won’t be up against as much competition.

The reasons for potential buyers to look for homes happen all year round. Houses sell every single day of the year, no matter the weather. With less inventory on the market, people who sell their homes in the winter will have more control over it.

More motivated buyers

If someone is looking to buy a house in the winter, likely they are a highly motivated buyer. This is a great thing for you – your home will sell faster, and to the right people. People so eager to buy a home that they will go looking in the colder months are often the most serious and qualified buyers. You might have less showings of your home, but they are more qualified so it won’t be on the market for long!

Make yourself more money

With less competition on the market you have more control as the seller. This means you’re in the best position a seller can be – instead of having to compete with prices of over 30 homes, you might be competing with 10 different listings. This means you can price your home at a more appropriate value and make the most money on your home in the winter.

Faster selling process

Studies show that a higher percentage of homes listed in the winter months sell quickly compared to summer-listed homes. And with the right mix of little competition and more serious shoppers, this couldn’t be more true. The people who are interested in your house won’t be window shoppers or willing to take their time. They want a house now, as soon as they can. This can result in a faster process for you and not having to wait too long to sell your home.

The rest, leave it to me and my team. We’ll help you through the sales process and help you take advantage of the winter months to sell your home.
