Renovations in the near future? is your answer!

While perusing the world wide web recently, I stumbled across this fantastic website for home renovations. Put away your library card and cancel your subscription to House and Home, because this site has got it all! Even if you weren’t planning any more updates in your home, you may just change your mind.

Houzz is the leading online platform for home remodeling and design, providing people with everything they need to improve their homes from start to finish – online or from your mobile device. From decorating a room to building a custom home, Houzz connects millions of homeowners, home design enthusiasts and home improvement professionals across the country and around the world.

Both the website and the app are super easy to navigate, and you begin your search based on what type of reno or update you’re hoping to do. You can simply choose to “browse photos” and select a specific room of the house, for example; the kitchen. Hundreds of thousands of pictures of beautiful kitchens are now at your disposal…all completely unique. When you find something you like, add it to your “ideabook”. This is your online collection of pictures and ideas you’ve discovered on the site. This becomes super handy to refer back to when you start breaking down walls and choosing your colours of paint. The site allows you to narrow your search to more specific projects, like a new kitchen counter, and many of the pictures also include product information for when you’ve made that big decision to buy.

Whether you’re looking to redesign your backyard, find a local professional who carries that shag carpet you’ve been wanting, or simply to be inspired, this is a great website for any home owner out there. One word of caution is that the site is slightly addictive. You begin your search thinking it might be time to spruce up that second bathroom in the basement, and two hours later, your “ideabook” is chock full and your simple bathroom reno now includes the whole second floor of your house. Try to explain that one to the wifey!
