Last week, the City of St. Catharines honoured 26 recipients from across our city at the 31st annual Trillium Awards. What better way to show your love for the Garden City than by gardening?
While the City of St. Catharines has a new plan that includes finding sustainable ways to green UP our city, people like those who received a Trillium Award, this year and in years gone by, truly make St. Catharines a more beautiful place to live.
I know I’m not the first, and I’m sure I won’t be the last, but I wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS to this year’s winners and THANK YOU for making our city all the more spectacular.
What are the Trillium Awards?
Initiated in 1985, The Trillium Awards recognize the residents and organizations in St. Catharines for their work to make St. Catharines a more beautiful, green and friendly community. The city accepts nominations — this year they received more than 200! — and judges visit the properties in August each year. The properties are ranked based on use of colour, maintenance, use of plant and landscape materials and how the property fits into the surrounding, existing landscape.
